DEBT CEILING DEAL
Women's economic security will be seriously affected by the debt ceiling agreement. If ulimately approved, one trillion dollars in cuts will be made to family planning clinics, food stamps, college tuition assistance, child care and other programs that disproportionately serve and also employ women.  Then, cuts
to Medicare, Medicaid and even Social Security could follow.  Women have a great deal to lose if Congress continues to follow the path of only curbing spending to balance the budget while ignoring the need to increase revenue.

Walmart Still Discriminates
When the Supreme Court failed to grant women, who have worked for Walmart, class-action status to sue the company for gender discrimination,
it not only left as many as 1.5 million potential plaintiffs on their own to sue the largest retailer in the nation, it took away the potential to ease the ability for women and, all employees, to prove job discrimination in the areas of gender, race and disability.  Many people argue that boycotts don't work. Walmart
stock hasn't moved and sales have declined, all while Walmart tries to improve its public image...how do we know it isn't due to those of us who refuse
to cross the threshhold of a Walmart or Sam's Club?  Walmart discriminates against women in hiring and promotion and it prevents employees from
unionizing to improve their treatment by management.   Want something you can do right here where you live?   DON'T SHOP AT WALMART!
